Wellington Vineyards is owned by the father and son team of John and Peter Wellington. John purchased the winery site in 1986. At the time, it consisted of 20 acres of old vines and a few decrepit old fruit and nut trees. Replanting of part of the old vineyard and orchard started in 1988. The winery was completed in time for the 1989 crush. We grow approximately half the grapes we use and purchase the remainder, primarily from small, unique vineyards.
    Winemaker Lynda Hanson
Lynda Hanson joined our winemaking team in 2002. She brought with her a wealth of experience and knowledge, and a winemaking style that is a perfect fit for our winery.
Lynda holds a B.A. in French and English Literature from the University of Colorado, as well as a Master's Degree in Enology from the University of California, Davis. Her winemaking resume includes positions at Schramsberg, Beaulieu, Edna Valley Vineyards, LaCrema and Hartford Court in California, as well as Ch√Ęteau Lafite in Bordeaux, France and Tapiz (formerly Mariposa) in Argentina.
After extensive travels, Lynda has returned home to Sonoma County where she is busy doing what she loves best ~ creating world-class wines! The next time you are at the winery, be sure to introduce yourself to Lynda.

  • Appellation: Sonoma Mountain
  • Winemaker: Lynda Hanson
  • The Cabernet from this vineyard produces a sturdy full-bodied wine with plenty of rich tannins, making it both age worthy and enjoyable in its youth. The aroma has good intensity, dominated by black fruit (blueberry and black cherry in particular) with notes of spice and vanilla. On the palate this Cabernet achieves the elusive combination of power and finesse, the proverbial iron fist in a velvet glove. We expect that this wine will continue to fill out, soften and gain finesse for several year... more
